Feature Request -adding Aliases for BO's/forms/queries names

weblike

Hi,

This is a feature request for adding Aliases for BO's/queries/forms names and this Aliases to be added in locale.

Now,when you hover the mouse over a button like "Save" - a tooltip appears saying something like this "Save form for BO_CustomersOrders"
This is not so good looking..

If the app is translated in other language than this tool-tip message looks uglier. First part is translated, but the name of the object is not...

I think that adding an alias or tag for each object, that could be added in locale would help a lot nd tooltips would look professional.

If anyone thinks this would be useful, please pitch-in!!!

Thank you

GREAT idea and 10+ for this one. I also have these problems and there is no efficient workaround. The UGLY problem i.e. the text shown in tooltips is ugly and not formated correctly/nicely is BAD. The LOCALE problem i.e. the mix of a locale language and the name of the BO (usually english) is a NO GO and a big problem.

Support, this is a important thing and hope it can be prioritized. Thanks.

Hi again Henrik,

Thank you for sustaining this. I think all users will benefit from this and also the AWIM will have advantage among worldwide new upcoming users.
Support, please include this in next builds.
Thank you.
Nice day.

Agreed that this will help add to the professionalism & polish of apps we build with AwareIM.

RocketRod

I agree. This would make for a far more professional app.

Cheers Rod

The default tooltip that the system generates for the Save/Create button is "Submit Changes". No form name is used here and the default tooltip can be changed in the locale.

So not sure what this is all about.

Rennur

It's not a tooltip issue.
If you open a a form, make changes to an attribute then try to close the form (without saving first), the system displays a question dialogue box asking you if you want to save changes to the BO.

The issue is that if you BO is called something like PO_ForecastGraph, the dialogue box question the end-user sees is
Do you want to save changes to PO_ForecastGraph
The ability to to assign an alias to the BO name would be good.

Cheers

Hi Support,

Yes you are right about these example you have gave, but I speak about the tooltips which use BO names in them.
Examples bellow:

It would be nice to have a TAG for BO that could be changed in locale. The message should appear like this:
English: "Create new company and set it to company"
Italian: " Creare nuova società e impostarlo su società"
French: "Créer nouvelle société et le mettre à la société"

Now the tooltips appears like this:
English: "Create new TC_Company and set it to TC_Company"
Italian: " Creare nuova TC_Company e impostarlo su TC_Company"
French: "Créer nouvelle TC_Company et le mettre à la TC_Company"

I hope this is clear now.
Support, if you need more info please let me know.
Could this be included in todo list??
Thank you.

I'm trying to use tooltip to show live data, but so far I can only get one row of data showing. Hopefully the height will be fixed. I had used Tooltip with live data and images in ASP.Net and it's very useful to save screen real estate.

Another place where this is a problem is operations in queries. There you will see for example "Navigate to TC_Company".

aware_support

1) Tooltips when you Add New are available in the Add New Settings - see Description
2) Tooltips for all operation are also available in the Description

So the only issue I see is what Rennur spoke about - when there is a default prompt to save changes. We'll investigate this particular one.

Support,

So the only issue I see is what Rennur spoke about - when there is a default prompt to save changes. We'll investigate this particular one.

One other place that is awkward is when you cancel saving changes you have made in a BO.

For example,
1) log into the CRM sample app as a Staff member.
2) in the list of Customers on the Dashboard, edit Jane Allison
3) Change Jane to Janet
4) Click close
5) You will see the message "There are unsaved changes in the form of the object Customer. Do you want to save them?"

It would be nice to be able to control the wording of this message. Not all BO names lend themselves to users understanding this message.

This is exactly what Rennur pointed out. Like I said, we will investigate it.
