AwareApp.RunQuery Struggles

Hi Guys!

Hope there is someone who can assist. I am building dashboard views for some of my queries but struggling to get it functioning as I want.

Basically each dashboard would have a Column layout with 2 panels. The top Panel has a row of buttons. Each of the buttons call a specific query that should open in the second panel. I.E replace whatever is in that panel currently but still keeping the VP in tact. thus not in a new tab.

Here is an example: You will have an operation that opens the dashboard in a new tab. The dashboard will then look like this:

Here is what I've tried for the buttons:

However, nothing is happening. When I click the button. If I replace the 'AwareApp.getPanelId' with 'main' then it opens the query but it replaces the entire Visual Perspective (MyDashBoard). Thus throwing away my Buttons.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Hello Hein,

When using OnClick, you do not need to add "javascript:" in your link.

Use:
<a href='#' onclick="AwareApp.runQuery ('ShowRenewalCompleted', AwareApp.getPanelId('main', 'MyDashBoard', 'Query'));">Button 4</a>

I use another solution that I think would work better for you than your existing one. The solution is using a attribute (either dropdown or radio button) and form section invisibility conditions together. To explain.

In your previous screenshot, imagine "MyDashBoard" being 1 form that is opened up and then the buttons in the top of the form is instead for example radio buttons (inside that 1 form). If you configure the BO.Choice attribute (radio buttons) to be saved when changed and then set up 4 different reference queries in the form. Each form section should have a invisibility condition saying something like "BO.Choice<>Button1" (meaning if the BO.Choice is not Button1 hide the section). I use this solution all over my applications and works very well. Just back from holiday so my brain is still filled with sand and margaritas 🙂 but hope you understand what I mean.

PS: I usually set up a separate BO called BOIndex and then each user has a personal instance of this BO to work with.

Sure Tom, here is the sample bsv. The bsv is configured and populates etc. itself when you log in to the bs so you can see right away the thought/concept. The SampleChoice BO has a choice attribute and 3 different reference queries to other objects and 1 query is displayed per choice so when a choice is changed, the reference query displayed is changed.

Yeah, it´s a powerful config option. I also use the same principles / solution to create more advanced solutions like the one below (screenshot):

Tom,
I tried doing that but got a message saying the filetype was not allowed (I tried renaming the file to .txt , .jpg etc.). Zipfiles did work (tested now) and good to know.
