Feature request -dropdown menu in queries - next to the item

weblike

Hi,

This is a feature request for queries. To have the possibility to add operations in a drop-down menu next to the item. I think there is other post about this on the forum, if so consider this as a refresh 🙂
It is possible to add this feature as task for future builds?

Anyone consider this a nice feature to have or only me??

thank you

Better still George.....

Rather than having a menu on every line..... which looks a bit unprofessional....

V6 will allow you to put a menu to the right or left or top or bottom with all kinds of options including an additional dropdown menu.

The chosen menu option applies to the selected row.

Thanks Mark for the reply,

I know, I'm testing the beta version..awesome new features.
But still, I'm not agree that is unprofessional. I saw this feature on Ext JS 5 examples (i don't find the link now), but looks great and helpful.

I didn't test yet in v6, but what happens with the blank space bellow the left, right menu? It can be filled with something?
I will test it...
thx.

Hi again,

this is unprofessional grid? I think it would look great...Not only will look great, but would be very easy to use, too .....
I'm the only one 🙂))

The new 6.0 option is great but I agree with you Weblike, having a menu per row is better and more professional.

This can by the way kind of be achieved already (not the best option and hopefully Awaresoft can create a real solution for this like the one you (Weblike) showed in the screenshot) and this has been written about before in the forums and the idea is basically to have a dropdown (plain text) in the row and when the dropdown choice is changed, a operation is executed:

These kind of buttons are actually included out of box in the new extjs 5 version and hope it can be included soon.

Weblike,
I am sure you can achieve this in the current version by using START PROCESS function on the object

eg:

Create a number of processes that you want to have listed in the drop down on your grid
On your object, create a text attribute containing the name of each Process
Include this attribute in your grid , set it to Inline edit - this will provide the drop down of Process options the user may wish to run
On your Object have a rule that says If MyObject.ProcessName WAS CHANGED Then START PROCESS MyObject.ProcessName and its done.
(also set the refresh settings of the Process and Grid)

Hi ACDC,

Thank you for the workaround.....

Yes we can achieve that, but EXT JS5 has this options(like Henrik posted a link to those examples)...second I don't use Inline Editing in all my apps..It's a useful feature, but not always.
Frankly I have seen this nice feature(dropdown menus next to items) in many other applications...(non-AWIM)...Looks very professional...
AwareSoft included a tone of new features in v6.0...and I think we can wait 6.0.1 🙂 for these mentioned above...

Thanks,

Nice day,
