Sometimes you have the same attribute you'd like to allow to be defined manually (user input) or by business rules only; on the form we want to allow the user to enter values manually and sometimes we don't.
This cannot be achieved by ticking the 'calculated' checkbox as it renders the attribute permanently read only.
We cannot use the PROTECT action as it will not allow changes to that attribute of any kind on (manual or via business rules, only via process.).
The solution is to introduce a new action eg. READONLY via rules that would prevent the attribute from manual user input (for any reason) but allow the value to be changed by the system.
Another option would be to extend the 'except System' to work with business rules not just with processes.
