overriding process popup

Hi,

I know that by default, any process you call in awareim opens up in a popup window.

Is there a way to override this behaviour? Reason for asking is that the landing page of my app has buttons and the customer doesn't like the popup window to enter a new record.

how did you guys manage to overcome this scenario (if you had a need before)?

Instead of using a Process launched from the landing page you can launch it form the Top or Left Menu and use the Open in New Tab option.
I think you can as well try to use 'New Tab' from the same process in your HTML code.

I did that but the client wants 'big buttons' on the landing page instead. I have it on the top menu as well and it works.

and changing the top bar might be a massive re-work on the CSS 🙁

i just wish that the 'renderarea' on the startprocess works, otherwise i find it 'useless' in specifying 'main','new_tab' or 'panel_section' if it always popup anyway.

I don´t know how and where you display the custom html (i.e. button) but it is most likely in a VP content panel (e.g. a form displayed in a content panel?). It is possible to defined "Target panel" in the VP for each content panel where you can for example configure "New Tab". See if it helps (or have I completely misunderstood your landing page setup?).

Hi hpl123,

On my VP for a user, i am using a static HTML as the first page.

When the user clicked the 'Add Warranty' he wants the page to overwrite the page where the button is displayed.

Is what I am trying to achieve possible with Aware or am I going against it?

I am not 100% sure but I do think this is possible. Try playing with the target setting (see image below) and if that doesn´t work, try creating a form which has your button in a html cell and then have a process display that form in a VP content panel (and then again play with the target panel settings).

Another thing, are you 100% sure the display options isn´t working/available from the startprocess html command?

Regarding the comment from support, I think they refer to cases when ENTER NEW is used. In those cases I believe popups always are used. A way around this is to use CREATE and then VIEW but then you would also need a rule or something to handle/clean up non complete created instances (e.g if a user starts typing in a form but them navigates away from it i.e in the users mind they did not create the instance)

I know this original post is 3 years old but I've just spent a lot of time finding the solution so I wanted to add that for the reference of others including my forgetful self. Bet it's one of those things that everyone knows already. Look forward to the day I can remember 90% of the AIM settings🙂

So to disable a process displaying as a pop up in the Process screen, General tab, under Miscellaneous select "Display intermediate steps in a pop-up window" arrowed below.
