5.9 'Undefined' checkbox for references

When:

Object > Ref attribute > Reference element > Display method > Custom Template

is defined and Include 'undefined' text in selection flag is ticked

What happens
On the form, the 'undefined' selection is not a blank-line/empty-space, the selection includes all the HTML code (without values) from the Custom Template.

What would work better
On the form, the 'undefined' selection should remain just a blank-line/empty-space.

Is this possible?

Also is it possible for this 'undefined' selection to ignore the sort filter and always appear as the 1st selection.

I would LOVE for the undefined value to be placed at the top of the drop down.

In some of my sort selections, I use these drop downs and have an undefined show "All Customers" or "All Vendors". If a user is looking to reset to "All, it could be at the bottom of a very long list.
