How to start a new project

Hi all

Could somebody help me with how to start a new project. I am using the free demo and a little confused how to start a new project. When I open the config tool the dialogue does not allow a new project name as it is locked onto the previous name and cannot be changed.

I was using the CRM existing demo project and it is stuck there.

Also it says use "password" as the password the first time. How do I enter a password after that as I experiment with new projects?

Hi golfdog,
First of all to start a new project (business space in AwareIM terminology), right click on the "Business spaces" node in the configuration tool and pick new and from there either install a sample application or create a new one. Regarding the standard password, if you go to the "Tools" menu in the configuration tool, this is where you change the password (for the configuration tool and the admin account on all applications).

Regarding learning etc. AwareIM, read the userguide and a good place to start is the "Basic concepts" chapter in the start of the guide and then go from there. The 4 best ways to learn AwareIM (my experience) is:

Read the userguide
Look at all of the tutorial videos
Dissect the sample applications
Ask in the forums

I strongly recommend you start by reading the docs. Look in the AwareIM\Docs folder. GettingStarted.pdf is a great start. Also visit the AwareIM site and watch every tutorial video.

Members of this board will be a significant help to you once you get started and I am sure you will find AwareIM to be more powerful and useful than you imagined.

When I test my new project what title do I fill in on the dialogue to specify that project (business space)?

Do I keep using "password" as a password?

Hello again,
Regarding the BS name. When you create a new BS (previous post) you type in the name of you new BS and this is the name of your application (used for example when logging in, shown in browser title etc.).

I don´t know if you´re trying to rename an existing BS for example the CRM BS? This is not possible but you can export an existing BSV (Business Space Version) from 1 BS to another if you´ve already started to do changes on for example the CRM BS.
