PhoneGap: Are alerts possible on mobile devices

tford

1) Is it possible to send alerts to a mobile device which is running an app built with AwareIM / PhoneGap.

2) Is it possible to have an AwareIM / PhoneGap app remember the password on a mobile device so the user can just tab through the login screen once they type in the passcode on their device (if passcode control is enabled).

1) Not sure what you mean by sending alerts. If you display a message using DISPLAY ASYNCH it should work fine
2) Not at the moment

I guess I'm not sure what you call it .. but on the iPhone, when you are not using your phone & get alerted by an app that is able to push a message to the main screen so it shows up without going to the app itself.

No, not yet. Aware IM does not use phone-specific features yet (unless you provide your own PhoneGap plugin for this). What you get is the same mobile application you use in your browser, but in a native form without the need for the user to open the browser and go to the URL.

Sounds good and i.e. more features are coming 🙂 🙂. Phonegap build has all kinds of plugins that theoretically can be integrated "into" AwareIM i.e. the plugins are used by AwareIM for native applications. Look at the phonegap build site for more info on options/plugins.
