Support,
Yes, I understand that AIM uses ID for values. What I am trying to do is import my existing MySQL database into AIM without having to replace my existing ID values. So for example, if several tables in my DB use specific ID values to reference a state or county, then when I create new BOs in AIM for state and county and import the data, the IDs MUST stay the same; otherwise I will have problems.
I know you mentioned that I should NOT import directly into AIM but that is exactly what I am doing because it is the only way I am getting the data in the way I want it.
I have a database with close to 100 tables and many relationships that need to be kept in tact. The import/export process outlined in the manual and in the video really did not help me.
So far, it has been MUCH easier to work directly through MySQL to import the data from my DB into AIM's MySQL instance. It is working fine so far. I am taking note of the REM, RMA and RID fields as well and updating those as they need to be.
At this point, I think I have managed to solve my original problem. As I add more tables (BOs) and the attendant relationships, I will know quickly if I am doing something wrong.
Thanks!
Jose
