Query Question

Imagine I have a BO called MyStatus that has a single Attribute called Status and has 10 records in it.

These records are part of Combo Drop Down which I want to filter.

VALUE A
VALUE B
VALUE C
VALUE D
VALUE E
VALUE F
VALUE G
VALUE H
VALUE I
VALUE J

I need a query for the following

IF VALUE A THEN INCLUDE VALUE A, VALUE E, VALUE F
ELSE
IF VALUE C THEN INCLUDE VALUE C, VALUE G, VALUE I

There will only be two options so a single IF , THEN, ELSE type of decision would be adequate.

I tried the following but did not work

FIND MyStatus WHERE (MyStatus.Status='VALUE A' OR MyStatus.Status='VALUE E' OR MyStatus.Status='VALUE F') OR (MyStatus.Status='VALUE C' OR MyStatus.Status='VALUE G' OR MyStatus.Status='VALUE I')

However, obviously FIND MyStatus WHERE (MyStatus.Status='VALUE A' OR MyStatus.Status='VALUE E' OR MyStatus.Status='VALUE F') by itself worked.

As you can tell....SQL is not my strong point. 😉

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What is you try and use CONTAINS in some way

FIND MyStatus WHERE MyStatus.Status CONTAINS 'value','value 2' AND
NOT(MyStatus.Status CONTAINS 'value3','value 4')

Also
FIND MyStatus WHERE MyStatus.Status IN 'value','value 2' AND
NOT(MyStatus.Status IN 'value3','value 4')

Didn't work using either CONTAINS or IN

Might have to rethink it a bit.

This is actually a flight ticket form.

FIND FlightTicketStatus WHERE
(FlightTicketStatus.TicketStatus='CAN BE RESERVED' AND FlightTicketStatus.TicketStatus IN 'CAN BE RESERVED', 'RESERVED', 'WAITLISTED') OR (FlightTicketStatus.TicketStatus='CAN BE ISSUED' AND FlightTicketStatus.TicketStatus IN 'CAN BE ISSUED', 'ISSUED', 'WAITLISTED')

The existing value is 'CAN BE RESERVED' but the above only shows CAN BE RESERVED and CAN BE ISSUED

Not sure about this but

How about adding a second attribute. Set it equal to 1 for say Value a,e and f. Set it equal to 2 for values c g and i.

Then

FIND MyStatus where Mystatus.Number = ThisMystatus.Number

Instead of having 1 BO (myStatus) with a dropdown of 10 statuses, why dont you create multiple instances of the MyStatus BO then.

MyStatus BO:

Name - plain text attribute
IsBookalbe - Yes/No attribute
IsIssueable - Yes/No attribute

Then,

When you create a MyStatus BO you enter the Status name (UNESERVED) and tick the the IsBookable attributes.

Then create another one (RESERVED) and tick the IsIssuable Yes and/or tick IsBoockable as well

Your query then would be to search all IsBookable and/or IsIssuable statuses.

My head hurts 🙂

Hi,
Your combo dropdown list is a multiple reference, therefore in order to find out if a choice was selected I think you would need to use something like:

IF COUNT Status WHERE(Status IN ThisMyStatus.Status AND Status='VALUE A')>0 Then
FIND ...

Did a re-think and achieved the outcome I wanted with html/css buttons being displayed in a html cell. Particular buttons for particular conditions.
