PDF in Aware

Hi,

How do I add a document that is of type PDF? It is a pre-formatted report and I want to give the user the option to either PRINT it as 'blank'. I don't want to give them Word document format.

If I print it direct, then there will be the issue of what printer to use.

They can download the PDF to their PC and print it anytime they want.

Make a document type attribute. You can choose to store it in the file system or in the database. You can use rules to limit the file type being uploaded if needed. The user can download the pdf, fill it in, and upload it back if that fits your need. You can also use some rules:

IF Object.FileName WAS CHANGED by [AccessLevel]
Object.UpdatedByUser='Yes'

Or whatever you need.

Thanks, I could have place it on the menu as a URL but they require some sort of 'count/tracking' how many times the form is being download

Is there a way to just show the 'View/Download' icon? I don't want the user to be uploading a newer PDF or deleting the current PDF

I'm not sure on this but try working with access rights. Perhaps if they have view only priv's then that's all they can do.

How about using VIEW to display the form, doesn´t that automatically remove all "editing" options for document/picture attributes?
