How to set a field to the currently logged in User's Name

I need to set a field/attribute on a new data object to the currently logged in User's Name on creation of the new object.

The closest I can find is the SET action:

SET [ATTRIBUTES OF] Id () FROM ArithmeticOperation() [ USING StringLiteral]

where Id() is the identifier of the business object the attributes of which are being set and the ArithmeticOperation() is the expression identifying the string containing attribute names to set and their corresponding values.

Here are my best shots, so far:

SET Request FROM Request.Creator: LoggedInUser.Name USING ':'

and

SET Request FROM Request.Creator 'John'

But each generate errors.

Any advice?

on the business object select edit rules button

create a rule with simply:

{attribute} = LoggedInRegularUser.LoginName

Don't fortget to add " If New" condition otherwise that attribute value will be overwritten at each access :

If BO IS NEW
Then
BO.Attribute=LoggedInRegularUser.LoginName
