My app contains quite a bit of Personally Identifying Information (PII) and I would like to explore some encryption options. My app is hosted using MySQL on a Windows server but I also have a runtime edition running on MS SQL. I am currently running AwareIM 5.7 and will get to 5.8 when I get some time. My main concern is the MySQL database in the cloud but I have to maintain compatibility with MS SQL for my runtime edition.
First, if I could just encrypt the whole MySQL database, that would be great. I know of no way to do that. If you do, please advise.
Second, there is the AwareIM ability to encrypt plain text attributes. This will work but I do not know how to implement it. I'm sure I can figure it out but my concern is that if I apply this encryption in the BSV, what is the effect on the MS SQL runtime instance? This seems to be a MySQL specific capability. Any advise on this would be appreciated.
