Edit Operation is not visible while using ENTER NEW action

Hi support,

I have a situation in which i am trying to use ENTER NEW action to create a business object and on that form there is a reference Business Object with multiple option ticked and in presentation display as Table of items.

Now, when ENTER NEW action invoked business object form is display and i can enter values into reference object by Add New action or Add, in the reference object grid. I have two operations Edit and Delete but in run time i see only delete operation.

And also if i put another operation as a process for some calculation on the row added to grid and click the operation then popup window disappear and whole ENTER NEW process fails.

So, problem is why edit operation not visible and other operation not executed well. Is this a bug or limitation.

I believe this is by design. I hope I understand correctly. But AwareIM doesn't allow you to create child attributes for an object that it not yet created, and it's not created until you use the Create button. You'll note that an object's form always shows a Create button when in create mode. Only after the object is created will you be able to add child objects.

You might try a process in which you create the object using a form that contains only the required attributes, then after it is created, edit the same object. In that mode, you can use all normal functions on your child objects. This is a common limitation in any relational database.

I agree with you, as until a Object is not created there could be limitation. But if instead of Edit operation i use inline editing option it will allow me to edit the row and do the modification in which still object is not created, so similar way if we had a edit operation or such operation which do processing on the context which it is holding at that time should work for modification.

Is it make some sense ?

Using in-line editing will not change the basic concept. The best thing is to have a mechanism to fully create the object then present the object back to the user in full edit mode.
