Zoho Problem - can't see the controls

SET UP ACCOUNT, Got the API KEY Did what it said in the video. tried to use it, the ZOHO editor page opens up. I can see the DOC but cannot edit it. There are no controls, tabs, buttons to click. It's like it has opened up for Viewing only. Did I specify the wrong api key or something?

Testing on Mac Mini with 8GB 512Mb given to AwareIM and 256 to Tomcat. Can give more but my production server is set to this so reluctant to increase.

IMPORTANT: If you want Zoho to edit documents inline the URL that your users use to start the application MUST use the full server name – localhost or raw IP address will not work. For example:

http://myserver.com:8080/AwareIM/logon.html
(this will allow editing)

http://localhost:8080/AwareIM/logon.html
(this will not allow editing – just viewing)

http://205.46.67.78:8080/AwareIM/logon.html
(this will not allow editing – just viewing)

OK, can see the controls. Mada a change, clicked Save, it says it's saving (10 mins and counting) nothing happened. Clicked Close, re-opened. Changes NOT saved

Agree Rocketman. Had already posted this last week. Still waiting on support for an answer. Changes are not being saved.

We had this once and the problem was that port 8080 was not accepted for an external call. When we have changed the port to 80 it all worked (80 is a standard HTTP port and the port can be omitted from the URL).

Now it makes us wonder whether Zoho requires you to use port 80 at all times...

Checking the internet I find this from zoho if using saveURL method.

•Enterprise remote servers need to expose one of their ports - port 443 (https) or port 80 (http) - from their location, for Zoho Services to push the data back.

So is the method being used? If so can we get AwareIM to use port 80 not 8080?

Please try running Aware IM on port 80 and if Zoho works we'll change the documentation. It looks like port 80 is their requirement.

We never used port 8080 in our own testing, so maybe we missed this requirement.

Cant use port 80 as it says it is already in use. Any suggestions?

You must free it up - it is most probably used by some other web server, such as Apache or IIS. You need to stop the program that is using it (at least temporarily) and get Aware IM to use it.

Yep IIS. Now have AwareIM working on port 80 and I'm using a DNS name not an ip address.

Will still not save.

Anything else you would like me to try?

works in production mode so everyone please note that along with you have to use port 80. Maybe for the future port 80 should be the default now instead of 8080? Just a thought.

Now there is still an issue though as if you make changes to the document AND try and make any other changes to your form you get the old...

Whoooops, this is going to be a show stopper. I have IIS running on production server to serve multiple asp websites (port 80)

We'll investigate the "changed by another user problem". In the meantime could you check if the production mode works with port 8080

Just tried and no it doesn't. Zoho actually says port 80 as I mentioned above. I'm ok as I don't use IIS or run anything else on my servers but I can see that it will be an issue for some.

Can't see anyway around this as Zoho are not going to change. One solution would be if AwareIM could share port 80 I guess rather than needing exclusive use. Or maybe have two zoho options, viewing capability in other-words using port 8080 so the command sent to zoho is a view rather than an edit or updating using port 80. Just throwing up ideas.

This may be totally technically off the wall and impossible, but why does AwareIM NEED Tomcat/Apache/Coyote etc - Given IIS is a web server, why can't we just set up our AwareIM domains in the same way as any other domain and have IIS point to the startup.html file or whatever

As You can tell - I'm not an "Under the Hood" person but sometimes you just ask the dumbest of questions and somebody else says "hey - why not?

No, Aware IM needs Tomcat - full stop. It cannot work with IIS, Apache or other web servers.

If you want to use Zoho editing you need Aware IM to be running on port 80. I don't see why you need other web servers but if you do then reconfigure them to use a different port. If you can't then you can't use Zoho editing. Use another server where you can run Aware IM on port 80.

The problem with "Form changed by another user" will be fixed in the next maintenance build.

Correction for those who know what I am talking about:

It cannot work with other non-J2EE compliant web servers.
