Location and messenging capabilities

My application needs to show all logged in users within a conference hall on a mobile device. Then have the ability of users to message each other.There may be multiple conference rooms so I want to have the ability to specify a are range of location. I don't think AwareIm can access the device but maybe someone has some experience or other tools (geo location) that would allow me to implement it via AwareIM. Any suggestions is appreciated.

Hi Mark,
If you are familiar with php, you can shoot out to a php page that uses html5 to geolocate the user and then writes the information directly to a database that is read by AwareIM and the information is then written to the loggedinuser object. You would then return to AwareIM to use that information in the next process.

This isn't for the faint of heart but it is possible. One more reason why having a REST services client built into AwareIM would be a powerful enhancement.

Pete, not quite sure how I would go about this but will look into it. But you mentioned something about Rest services. I understand the new 5.8 has Rest services now. This is not my expertise, but would this be an avenue to look at?

I'm afraid not. At this point AwareIM is only able to host REST services, not consume them. We need to have a rest client built into AwareIM in order to do what I'm talking about (and more).
