Issue with server without ROOT access

Per the doc you included - I replaced

When I try to start “awareIM control panel” I get “the required property DriverClassName is not specified in the BASSserver.props file
Unable to start aware

I noticed when accessing the system settings / the DB Engine was set for derby
I change it to mysql and filled in the info
I then exit out and restarted awareim

Same error

When I checked the “system settings” nothing I entered (db info) was retained

What step am I missing?

Ok we don't have the root error because we restarted the server, however we now have new issues and help from the community would be appreciated.

I rebooted the server, that seems to fix the last error – bring us back to the original mysql error

“unable to set required value to “max_allowed_packet” database variable
Access Denied – you need the SUPER privilege for this operation
Make sure that it is at least 10M and start sever again

I checked server and max_allowed_packet is set to 16M

This issue is when trying to load the program on the Webserver. We are having multiple issues. If anyone has ever encountered these issues we would appreciate the help.

It seems you need to set the rights on the folder where your db resides. Aware needs a write access to this setting. Its one of the checks it does, if theres no access to the db it fails to load

Thank you but the access is right. From our hosting company that a working to get the program online.

No, its not right ! AwareIm wants to check this as a precaution to make sure the environment is correctly setup for it to run, it can't get access

This once again is from our web service provider.

sorry I was not clear before / max_allowed_packet is set to 16M
and mysql Database is on a remote linux server

my thinking is the installation does not check and ignore if setting is correct - it just wants to make change – this is clearly a bug

I get what you are saying but to our webservice provider this is strange. Since there appears to be a way to go around it I am sure others have experienced similar issues with hosting companies. That is what I am trying to work within. I need to meet the working requirements for aware Im and the requirements of the service provider. They are the ones installing not us and are facing things they consider unusual.

Its very easy to set up your own mysql server, why don't you just do that and the problem goes away. Also if you must connect to a remote mysql server for the purpose of your app then u can do that by setting things up from within your application.

Another thing, if you were able to get it right and use a third party mysql service as your core db then you are in the hands of someone else and as the developer of the app in my opinion thats not very good

..mmm , I don't think i understand the question.

Where is your aware server running from. ? You need to subscribe to a service provider that can supply you either a root access to a virtual machine or physical machine. They will also provide you with an IP address and thats it, publish your app on your own server and you are online

The required property DatabaseComponent is not specified in the 'BASServer.props' file

Does anyone know the issue and how to resolve it?
