How to apply a multiple select to a query

My users only see objects assigned to them but I want to enable them to share an object with others in their account. I can easily get to the PICK ONE OR MORE FROM... part of this. My approach would then be to list all of the selected names into a comma or space-separated attribute, and then the query would include:

...where Object.SharedWith contains LoggedInRegularUser.Name

But I can't quite figure out how to capture the names into the attribute. A further complexity is that it would be nice if the shared list could be edited - for example, if three persons are already selected, the user sees these selections when changing the shared settings. I think this requires a different approach and I'm not sure where to start on that. But the common user interface for something like this is to be presented with a list of available choices, check/uncheck the items desired, and save.

I might have a similar application .. not sure.

We assign game roles to various reporters. In some cases, the same role is given to multiple reporters.

1) When assigned, I insert the instance of GameAssignments into a BO: Reporter.GameAssignments

2) Each GameAssignments instance has a few different lists of reporters assigned to various roles. One example is Games.Assigned_Photographers which is calculated with this rule:
GameAssignments.Assigned_Photographers=LIST_LINE(GameAssignments.Role_Photographer,'',', ','Name_Last')

The result is a comma separated list of last names of the photographers for that game.
