Long time to create any record.

Hello!

Im having trouble with an specific application. It was working fine for over a year. But recently it takes a LOT to create almost any kind of B.O.

I was thinking that maybe was an specific B.O. but now I can see that any B.O. takes more time than usual.

the biggest BO that I have has around 45,000 records

But now even on empty BO with NO related BO takes a lot.

Looking at the memory in the server. The Javaw.EXe goes up tu 1,100 MB

Im really stuck here. Any help will be great.

Have you been able to narrow down if its a backend database performance issue or more a resources issue from the AwareIM side of the fence?

Install your bsv under a new name ( myapp2 ), with no data and see if it is still slow.
install your bsv on an other machine with no data and test
try something else than XAMPP ( XAMPP is ok for testing but nor recommended for production )
check if you have added any Rule or Process consuming too much resource at BO change

It sounds like a rule problem. You need to inspect your rule log and check if there are any bottlenecks there. First of all check the log to see if any rules are executed unnecessarily - cross reference rules, etc. There is a detailed post somewhere how to optimise rules.

Then look at the timing of each entry in the rule log (you can do it if you open the rule log in a text editor). If you see a considerable difference in timing between two consecutive entries, then this line is a problem.

Well, I didnt want to make another BusinessSpace on that machine, but yes. I did it.

I found that even if I make a new Business Space with Brand New B.O. (just 2) It takes a LONG time to compile.

I managed to export the BSV file and try it in my personal computer and it works fine. I have like 10 other apps just like this one (not so many records) but works fine.

Like I said before, In this Business Space that its slow, tryed to create a new record, in a BO that has only 1 relationship to another table that has only 1 record. sholdnt have problems, but it is very slow as well.

This server is only for AwareIM use, and the server is fast and works properly.

So at this point the problem seems to be either the DataBase, or AwareIm

(Should I reinstall AwareIM? or will I lose my licence? Or any way to repair DB?

Right now at all the BO. Also in the same computer in all Business Spaces.

It does not matter if they are newly created with no data o 2, or 3 records.

Have you enabled mysql's slow query parameter so it writes down all the slow queries taking place?

Can we assume you've tried a simple server restart? I only ask because my windows server 2008 seems to leak memory. I do a restart every month or every time I apply patches

Hello,

I do restar the server, and sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, because the Memory with Javaw.exe goes to over 1100KB and users cannot access.

I wonder if I can reinstall AwareIm without blowing all the work and data the users have loaded. (and not loosing my licence)

You won't lose your license if you are reinstalling on the same machine, but I would rehearse this first on your private PC.

If you've already installed your BSV on your personal PC, backup your production MySql database and do a selective restore into the Mysql on your personal PC. RESTORE ALSO THE BasIDGen table

If it works ok then you are ok to do it for real,on your production server.

I'm sure if you bought a support ticket, The a Awareim Guys would be able to render expert assistance.

It sounds like you are running out of memory on the server and the system is crashing. Have you tried increasing your memory ?

One of the things that can bring on this kind of sudden event is if you have reference on a form and it is set to a Drop Down "without a page size limitation" "with fetch all records at once set ". As the records grow in the reference table, more memory is used. Each time the user selects the drop down it tries to load the whole table into memory eventually using up all the allocated memory space.

Well, I just want to post and say that the problem is fixed. How?

Well First BACKUP EVERYTHING.

(Backed up in SQL format)

I had XAMPP installed, so I uninstalled it, and then Installed MySQL.

Well, after that, it DID NOT fixed the issue. So I did this:

Created a new Database directly from AwareIM, and then imported the SQL dumpfile.

(It was very slow as well)

Hummm!
Then I installed Version 5.7 and the same. So I created a New Database, Imported first a BSV file to have the same struture. (it was a black application)

Then I imported all the dump files, to be imported in every table. (imported everything except some tables that didnt know what they were) They were created by the sistem I think.

then it worked as new. It really is a fairly fast procedure. (Around 4 - 5 h0urs) and Easy, (Im no expert in Mysql) All you need is the guts to do it.
