New production environment

Hi,

We have designed an application in AwareIM in a Derby-installation on a local Macintosh computer. Now it turns out that the production environment most likely will be a Windows-server and a MySQL db. How should we do to move the application (we have no published version and no real data)?

The current version will no longer be used when the new environment is up running. So I hope the license key is able to move...

For licence you can email the AwareIm support. For the database "problem" you may try to export the BSV. Then change your settings to MySql and re-import the same bsv.

1) export the BSV on the Mac
2) copy BSV to the production server
3) (if required) install MySQL on production server
4) Call support for a new license key (the MAC license key won't move as it is machine specific)
5) install AwareIM on the production server (specify MySQL as the DB
6) import BSV into AwareIM on the production server

two points.

1)You can do all of the above using an eval copy on the production server to make sure it all works - as long as you sort out your license key within 30 days you won't lose anything

2) AwareIM works fine on a Mac using MySQL. If you intend to keep the Mac for further development, you might want to install the Mac version of MySQL. I use a Mac mini to test new AwareIM releases before committing to the production server. Data between the two MySQL versions is interchangeable
