Feature request: Offline mode

Hi support, this is a feature request to add an "offline mode" option where the developer can change 1 BS or all BS´s status to "offline" and then if a user tries to go to the BS login page, they would reach a custom offline page.

A way it could work and I this would be ideal, is to let each developer:
a) select/create a login page per BS.

b) select/create a offline page per BS.

This 2 page "setup" could then be the "redirect" setting Aware IM does when the offline mode is set (i.e. in live mode the user reach the login page, in offline mode the user reach the offline page)

Hi,
This is really easy to do within the current framework, I do it to most of my projects already. Just add a status attribute to system settings and check that status when each user logs in. If the status is offline, give them a report error or log them out and shoot them wherever you want.

That would work I guess (Pete´s suggestion) but I would still prefer too have it natively in the Aware IM system. It would be easier (e.g. have a "Active offline mode" in the Aware IM menu for a BS) + have a couple of advantages e.g. you can work more freely with anything on the server, DB etc. with minimal risk of user intervention etc.

A workaround way to create the custom offline mode I suggested first in this post is to create 1 live login page and 1 offline login page (per BS) and then either manually or through a Windows script of some kind, rename the offline page to the name of the live login page (and off course the original live login page to something else). I have not tested this solution so there might be something I haven´t thought about but I think it will work.

I wonder if you could use a combination of Pete's approach and your idea??

Perhaps you could store 2 version of a Login page in SystemSettings attributes: Login_Offline, Login_Online

Then when the admin logs in & puts the system in offline mode, the BSV would write the contents of Login_Offline to the appropriate location.

This could be used in conjunction with Pete's login notes above so that if a user is able to attempt a login while not using the login page, you would still be protected.

Good idea Tom and could probably work. I will look into this whole thing when my application is close/closer to going live.

On a similar but slightly different topic. I have multiple BSV's running for different gliding clubs (should have maybe designed it from scratch as multi-tenanted but hey-ho)

It would be good if there was a common BO within BASDB that ALL BSV's could read at startup. The intention being that If I have to take the server down to either apply Microsoft patches or update AwareIM I could notify all users of all BSV's that "The server will go Offline at nn:nn hours on dd/mm/yy for approximately nn minutes/hours etc etc

I currently have such system wide messages working in individual BSV's but have to rely on emailing an admin person at each individual club to notify them when downtime is going to occur, so they can broadcast their own notice.

Could probably do it by detecting the presence/absense of a text file in a directory, but a common BO would give added flexibility such as "Start message at (time/date) stop message at (time/date)

Can you add a separate simple business space with a single BO and then add that BO table as an external BO and then it would be available to all business spaces?
