Disabling logins without deleting them?

I am looking for a way to disable access, without deleting the user. Is there any capacity to have the login process handle rules? Something like only allow the user to login if a regularuser attribute is set to true?

As a work around I might be able to scramble their passwords, but that is less elegant and has some drawbacks.

Hi,
I generally set a status attribute for RegularUser with values of Active or Inactive. I then add a rule to the process that runs when a user logs in like:

If LoggedInRegularUser.Status='Inactive'
Then
REPORT_ERROR'Sorry, your status is currently set to Inactive'. They then click on the OK button and are automatically logged out again.

perfect, thank Brad. I had not ever set up any process to run on initialization, so just needed to call it from the Landing page VP.
