Problem with object creation/search

I've made an object named Contacts. If I add a new instance of it, nothing happens. (Or alternatively, I get "Unable to find the record. The record may have been deleted.")

If I search my Contacts, nothing.

I made two other objects, Company and Client, and those both work 100%, in terms of creation and search. They use the same search query and and same form structure.

I've run the logger and it gives no errors. Has anyone seen anything like this?

I am at a total loss!

How are you adding the new instance?

I added a button for creation and search and thought that was my problem but trying the generic new object and search object buttons also yields no results.

After posting my initial query I had another look and I CAN add through the admin side, just not through the Consultant view. I see it's added on a loggedin user attribute? When I search through admin, I see all of the fields plus the loggedin user name.
