Just an update that after moving my application and database exactly as described above, I started getting duplicate key errors in some tables. I hired a DBA to check into it and this is the summary of her response... note that the BSV is called pobits...
Summary: I believe I have fixed the problem. The sequence number for the IDs in the pobits* tables was not correct after the data import. I corrected the sequence number (MAX_ID in bas_idgen) to be past the maximum ID I found in the pobits* tables. In the future, you would have to ensure the value you have for bas_idgen is imported into the new database.
So according to her, in addition to moving the BSV tables, one should also export/import the bas_idgen table. If anyone can confirm that, please do.
Lastly, we could sure use a definitive reference on how to migrate a database from server to server. Since AwareIM completely abstracts the database from the user, we users don't have a perfect understanding of the bas_ tables. I for one, would volunteer to craft a one-pager on this topic if Support would agree to validate it and include it in the user docs.
