Soap. How do I expose a BSV with parameters

I have successfully created a BSV that exposes data via a SOAP channel and a second BSV that requests and receives data from the exposed BSV. Just one final thing that is puzzling me which the Video tutorial tantalisingly alludes to but doesn't go into and I can't find in the help files. How do I set the exposed BSV to require a parameter as input I want to to be able to request certain pieces of information about a club member (Name address, email address) by passing the exposed BSV a membership number and password.

So far in my test I've kept it simple. The process in the exposed BSV is simply FIND ALL Members (there is only one) but it needs to be

FIND Members WHERE Members.LoginName=xxx and Members.Password=yyy

How Do I set the SOAP channel to expect the xxx and yyy What would be the syntax for the above I've tried FIND WHERE ATTRIBUTE = ?Parameter but when I then try to discover in the calling app nothing appears in the service input column on the intelligence tab

Also, I don't want the entire Members record - only a very limited subset. Is it possible to manually edit the wsdl file or is there some other way limiting the returned data

If a process that implements a service that you expose has parameter(s), then these are parameters exposed by the service.

So create an object representing login values and add it asa a parameter to your process

Hi support, not sure I understood that.

Today I learnt how to limit the data that is sent by the exposed service. I created a process which had one line.

FIND FindAMember

FindAMember is a query which has only the attributes that I need ticked (as if I was designing an on screen list) This was discovered and the BO was created with the correct attributes BUT

the query was FIND Members where Members.MemNum=?Parameter. But this parameter was not exposed.

I also tried FIND Members Where Members.MemNum=?'Mem Num'

So maybe I am misunderstanding your meaning. Any chance you could give me an example.

Create LoginParam object with LoginParam.LoginName and LoginParam.Password

Add this object as a parameter to your process and modify FIND as:

FIND Members WHERE Members.LoginName=LoginParam.LoginName and Members.Password=LoginParam.Password

Hopefully the final problem.

All parameters sorted, aware BSV discovered. Went to grab some test data, got "Service provider returned the following error Service sendmember was not found.

For testing purposes, I've set the guest access with full admin rights.

Please ignore last post. Did a rediscover and all ok. I'll do some more testing but it would seem making even small changes in the exposed app requires a rediscover in the calling app
