cannot put application in test mode

Well, it happened again.

I cannot put my application into test mode from the config tool. When I click the test icon, I get the spinning blue circle of death 🙁

I have rebooted, exported, and imported into a new business space, and when click the test icon - same result - locked. I have to terminate the process.

I am running in 64biit windows, 64bit jdk, w/8gb memory, and my 512mb control panel settings should be fine. I have a small application.

I am "dead in the water", and have no idea how to fix.

Is this a common problem during development?

If I just let it go, without terminating the java process in task manager, this is what eventually pops up:

Putting a BS into test mode involves both the config tool and AwareIm server. So you need to play with the memory settings on these two. I suggest you up the AwareIM server setting and see how yu go.

Those 2 are both set to 1024 (1 gig memory)

I can put the sample CRM application into test mode. That is a larger application than mine. So I am thinking this issue is specific to my application - wondering if this is a Derby database issue.

I am trying to setup a SQL Server connection, but I cannot get Aware IM to connect to SQL Server. I just posted that as a new post in the Problem Reports section of the forum.

As far as I am aware those memory settings wont work as for 32 Java the limit is 2 GB anyway for all four components. Drop your config setting down. Also when changing memory settings via the control panel always close the control panel after shutting it down before restarting.

As to SQL server ths is usually fairly straight forward. Of course to connect to full SQL server you need an extra licence. No problems with std AwareIm connecting to say SQL Express.

Got this to work 🙂

So, I am using 64bit, and 64bit java jdk, so not limited by the 2GB.

I got the SQL Server Express to connect by using SQL Server authentication (enabling mixed mode auth) , and enabling ports TCP 1433, and UDP 1434 on the windows firewall. I also had to start up the SQL Server browser service..

Once that worked, I created a new BS, and imported my latest exported bsv into it. I clicked test mode, and it worked right away.

So I think this may have been related to the Derby db. Goodbye Derby 🙂

Had similar issues on MacOSX with derby. Randomly every day or two the Client would stall on click "Test Mode" for 4-5 minutes before getting into test mode(pink writing). The fix was to export the bsv and reinstall quick.

Once the awareIM server was moved to a linux server and remote configuration tool was used, didnt run into the issue again. concluded it must've been derby.. ?
