ODBC Connection to Excel

I am wondering if it is possible to create a BO that has Persistence as a Database: existing external which is an ODBC connection to an Excel spreadsheet?

Has anyone been able to do that and if so can you suggest what the settings should be for the JDBC driver to connect is my ODBC Excel connection was called, say, AWAREEXCEL?

I have tried...

Driver Class Name : sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
Connection URL : jdbc:odbc:AWAREEXCEL

No go.

If you can, it will be JDBC, not ODBC. And that's all I know about that.
