Conditional entry/disp. of attribs based on other attrib(s)

I have an object in which, based on the value of a user choice at runtime, from a list of choices (either static values of the same attribute, or possibly a reference attribute), I wish to display entry for other attributes.

Example:

A project that is based "hourly" would display entry for a dollar rate, whereas a project that is based on "fixed fee" would display entry for a fee amount.

This seems like some sort of "cascading" set of business rules?

So, not sure how to conditionally display entry of attributes based on the value of another "driving" attribute, in my case TypeOfProject.

I am guessing that this below (from the How-to pdf )is what you are referring to? (not sure how this relates to the "filter on the drop down attribute")

IF MyObject.Value1 = ‘No’ Then READ PROTECT MyObject.Value2

This is not different from any other business rule. The trick here is when defining the rule to go to the “Advanced” tab and tick the “Use rule in dynamic recalculation on forms” checkbox. If this is ticked Aware IM will automatically fire the rule when any field that the rule depends on loses focus, and show/hide the appropriate controls.

I was sure it was available in the How To Guide but I cannot find it. You just need to define a filter query in the second drop down that depends on the current value in the first drop down. For example, if you are displaying a list of countries and a list states and the list of states should depend on the selected country you need to define a filter query for the States list that looks something like this:

FIND State WHERE State.Country = FormOwnerObject.Country

I think that is great for constraining a list which is dependent on a parent choice - will definitely use that.

However, I am thinking that the READ PROTECT, with the "dynamic" checked is how I would conditionally hide / display attributes, based on values of other attributes, correct?
