Leave Calculator

Hey guys, I'm new to the system and I was wondering if anyone knew how to do the following:

I need a leave calculator for an employee portal. Basically, every month it adds another 0.25 of a day to the tally and has a section where the office manager can minus days if leave is taken. Then it would be displayed like the bug counter in the video tutorial (y'know, x amount of y days leave taken)

I'm hoping that if someone can explain that for me then I can get a better understanding of the rest of this program 😃

It seems you would want to create a process that runs on the last day of every month. From the sound of it, the process would add a leave accrual record with a value of .25. When the manager decrements for leave taken, I presume that's a record with a negative 1 value. The general process is pretty simple:

FIND ALL Employee (or whatever segment you need using a WHERE clause)
CREATE LeaveAccrual WITH LeaveAccrual.Employee=Employee,Value=.25

Ah! Thanks, that simplifies it for me! I'm still learning so while I have the logic down, I still need to get processes, queries etc waxed.

If I had different types of leave (Sick, Annual, Family Responsibility, Unpaid and Maternity Leave) would each one be a seperate business object?

I would consider doing that if your app is intended for the market, thus, you would want to allow the user to define what types of leave they have. If you are building it for a single customer, then it should be fine to define the choices for the Leave Type attribute and add/change when business processes change within the target organization.

Just to be clear, I don't think each leave type should be its own BO. Your best options are to:

Make LeaveType an attribute on a Leave BO with defined choices, or
Make a separate BO called LeaveType allowing the end user to define their leave types. In this scenario, you should either deny delete rights, or provide rules to check for the deleted leave type in the LeaveTaken BO and replace it with some value, or a value selected by the user.
