"Optimal" width banner?

Hi all,
I have been playing around a bit with the banner module/position (specifically import a html page as a banner) in Aware IM and have experienced that the banner is not stretched out when the resolution on different computers change. For instance, if i import a html file with a banner (image banner) of ex. 1000. If i try this application/banner on one computer with a "normal" screen / resolution (no widescreen), the banner is perfect. If i try this application/banner on one computer with a widescreen screen/resolution. The banner does not cover the entire screen.

Does anyone know of / is there a "optimal" width for the banner that works with most/all resolutions so the banner is displayed correctly?

This is really an HTML question. You need to check out HTML capabilities for this, for example - background-repeat style
