Hi all,
I have been looking around for options when it comes to a server from which i want to run a couple of Aware IM applications. I am currently testing Aware IM on a WS2008 VPS with 2.4GHZ CPU and 4GB memory but i am not sure if this solution has enough power for Aware IM.
I basically have 2 questions. Here is what i want to do. I want to have a base server where i develop and "trial" several applications. The thought is that i develop an application, publish it (in Aware IM but also "online" via a website front etc.) and then test the market if this is something that might "work". This means the application might get a couple of hundred users max and the application itself might be fairly complex/big. If i see an interest in the application, the thought is to move the application to a dedicated server so it runs optimally on its own server. The base server should be able to handle a couple of (possible 5-10) of these "trial" applications.
Q1: What do you recommend i use for this "base server" in terms of server type (VPS, dedicated, other?) and power (CPU, memory, other)? Also, any thoughts on memory allocation in Aware IM for the base server (best estimate)?
Q2: When it comes to the server for a single application, what do you recommend i use for this server in terms of server type (VPS, dedicated, other?) and power (CPU, memory, other)? The server should be able to handle a fairly complex/big application with a large amount of application users/activity and be "futuresafe". Also, any thoughts on memory allocation in Aware IM for the single application server (best estimate)?
Thanks in advance, regards Henrik
