Problems with IE 8 on Win XP

I'm seeing a trend where users with IE 8 on XP (which means a junk computer) have problems accessing my Aware app. They can login but after that there is no presentation, no error, no nothing.

I've tried having them use compatibility mode - no help. It's hard to deal with because in almost all cases the user is also incompetent.

Any help here?

One tip is to get them to enable Javascript error messages and debugging in the browser - this is available in the Internet Options for IE. Maybe there is some Javascript error there for whatever reason.

Thanks, good tip. But when I ask them what browser they are using they say "I'm on MSN"... It's hopeless.

Thanks for the good laugh!

That's exactly why I continually try to get my users to convert to Chrome .. it's always up to date with the latest version. I realize that many developers can't control their user's browser choice though.

If memory serves - it was something to do with when a user saved a different layout for a query. I didn't catalog the thread with support but I know they logged in to my app to run some tests and discovered an issue which they fixed. but if you follow the suggestions in the post, you might get a useful error message that you can work with
