Convert Number to a String Problem

I three attributes in a BO CostReference...

GroupCode - Number Format 000
CostCode - Number Format 0000
SubCode - Number Format 0000

I also have another Plain Text Attribute called FullCostReference (Plain Text 20 ) to store the representation of the three attributes....

GroupCode-CostCode-SubCode in the form

000-0000-0000

Before I set a Rule to do the conversion I am trying to get a bulk conversion Process working.

CostReference.FullCostReference=PAD_LEFT(REPLACE_PATTERN(AS_STRING(CostReference.GroupCode),'.0',''),'0',3)+'-'+PAD_LEFT(REPLACE_PATTERN(AS_STRING(CostReference.CostCode),'.0',''),'0',4)+'-'+PAD_LEFT(REPLACE_PATTERN(AS_STRING(CostReference.SubCode),'.0',''),'0',4)

However, I am getting very wierd results...
CostCode 8111 converts correctly to 8111
CostCode 8110 converts incorrectly to 0081
SubCode 0999 converts correctly to 0999
SubCode 0201 converts incorrectly to 0001

Can anyone please offer an idea as to what might be happening here.
It is driving me nuts.

Hi, I'm wondering if you are making this more difficult than it needs to be. Have you tried:

CostReference.FullCostReference=CostReference.GroupCode+'-'+CostReference.CostCode+'-'+CostReference.SubCode
