I use to use Navicat's nightly backup function but have noticed that those backups might not work the day you needed it ( mysql errors, attachment file size etc...). Now I manually export from Navicat the entire database in "mydatabase.sql" format. Had no errors so far. I presume you will need to program a script if you want to launch the backup from AwareIM.
