Please, need help to update after delete BO

Hi,

I have tried all and I have given up. Here are my problems:

Problem 1

In SystemSettings BO I have the attribute TotalDonors
BO SampleCollection has:
attribute CurrentSampledIndividuals (number)
Rule A:
If SampleCollection.CurrentSampledIndividuals WAS CHANGED Then
CalculateTotalDonors

Process CalculateTotalDonors:
SystemSettings.TotalDonors=SUM SampleCollection.CurrentSampledIndividuals

When a new instance of SampleCollection is created or the CurrentSampledIndividuals is modified, the SystemSettings.TotalDonors is updated but not when an instance of SampleCollection is deleted.

A SampleCollection is deleted from a query result list.

Problem 2

BO SampleCollection has:
Attribute DiagnosisGroup (per reference to Diagnosis)

BO DiagnosisGroup has:
Attribute SampleCollection (per ref. to Study)
Attribute TotalSampleCollections (number)

Rule:
DiagnosisGroup.TotalSampleCollections=COUNT SampleCollection WHERE (SampleCollection.DiagnosisGroup=ThisDiagnosisGroup)

Process UpdateSCforDiagnosisGroup:

FIND SampleCollection WHERE SampleCollection.DiagnosisGroup=ThisDiagnosisGroup
DiagnosisGroup.TotalSampleCollections=COUNT SampleCollection WHERE (DiagnosisGroup IN ThisSampleCollection.DiagnosisGroup)

In SampleCollection BO:
Rule:
If SampleCollection.DiagnosisGroup WAS CHANGED Then
UpdateSCforDiagnosisGroup

When a SampleCollection is created, the DiagnosisGroup.TotalSampleCollections is updated. The same when the SampleCollection.DiagnosisGroup is modified but not when a SampleCollection is deleted.

Any advice or idea is very welcome.

Re: Problem 1 - If you open up the Configuration Tool, you will find two section of rules for the BO:

1) Rules(when object is created or modified)
2) Rules(when object is deleted)

Sounds like Rule A needs to be added to #2

Thank you very much for your help!
I added 2 rules to the SampleCollection BO (Invoked before the BO is deleted)

Recalculate Total donors:
SystemSettings.TotalDonors=SystemSettings.TotalDonors-ThisSampleCollection.CurrentSampledIndividuals

Update SC in diagnosis group:
FIND DiagnosisGroup WHERE DiagnosisGroup.Description=ThisSampleCollection.DiagnosisGroup.Description
DiagnosisGroup.TotalSampleCollections=DiagnosisGroup.TotalSampleCollections-1

Remarkably, the first rule is not working and the second works perfectly. I tried to fix it changing the member's access level for the SystemSettings BO to allow members to modify the SystemSettings.TotalDonors.
Still not working... The strange thing here is that I update the SystemSettings.TotalDonors each time a SampleCollection.CurrentSampledIndividuals is changed (as I wrote in the last message)
Well, I'm getting close. I'll try more. Any idea is very welcome.

I'm not sure if this is your issue, but the THIS prefix is not needed as often as some folks think. In general, I think it's needed when you have two instances in context and need to delineate between them with THIS and THAT prefix.

Hi Tom,

Now is working!!!
I changed the rule invoked before SampleCollection is deleted to:

SampleCollection.CurrentSampledIndividuals=0

(I tried with and without "This" and it works the same)

Because I have the rule to update the SystemSettings.TotalDonors when the ThisSampleCollection.CurrentSampledIndividuals is changed, it updates the SystemSettings.TotalDonors before deleting the SampleCollection.
