In my application
Client are related to Enquiry and Enquiry are related to Reservation (I use the Enquiry details and Convert it to a Reservation)

On my Client Form ( I have myEnquiry reference to show a list or Enquiry for the Client) I create a myReservation reference Attribute so I can See a list of Reservation for the Client I am editing.

this is my rule
FIND Charter WHERE Charter.fk_myRequest.fk_Client.ClientID=ThisClient.ClientID.

But it is not working. Can you help, I want to show a Query List of Enquiry and a List of Reservation for the client while I am Editing the client. I have a Tabs (Enquiry History, Reservation History, Invoice History)

Are you asking for help on a Client form or a Query?

A Form with Query for a client

I am using the reference attribute to display information showing all the Enquiries, Invoices, Reservations and Payments. When you edit the Client and you load the Form I want to be able to View all Reservations.

Client link to Enquiry and Reservations is link To client via Enquiry.

but I am unable to view all the Reservation for the Client when I edit the Client but I can see all the Reservation. If I am view a Query with a list of Client I have a process that I run that show me a list of Reservation for the client which is the rule above. But when I use this rule in the Form it does not show any data. I think the rule is constucted incorrectly.

I am not sure I understand, but if I do... then it sounds like you are trying to show the results of a query in a form? If so, my understanding is that this is [sadly] not supported. However you do have some options:

create a reference between client and reservation, then show client.reservations as a table of items in the form.
use a 'show reservations' link to start a process which returns these results in a pop-up

Or did I misunderstand what you are asking?

If I use option 2 how can I get the existing Reservation to be link to that reference?

in option 2 you are not creating a relationship, so the original query will work. You cannot show a results of a query in a form, but you can add a hyperlink to a form which will return the results of a query. Check out appendix d in the User Docs for available options.

Hopefully this will work for you. I ended up having to go with option A and then split my form into tabs (which add an undesirable level of visual and workflow complexity for users) b/c I needed both a chart and a data grid of the same info. Having a query result in display a form would be AWESOME.

Sorry my question was meant to use Option 1 not option 2.
If I use the Reference how can I get the record I already created to be associated with the new reference?

I understant some of the fundamentals just these more complex task sometimes give me a challenge.

in option 1 you should not need to do anything special, your previously mentioned query should work. If the reservation matched the query criteria when the user clicks the link it will show up in the results.

This is a screen shot of my form.

The Relationship is :
Enquiry is Related to Client and Reservation is Link to Client via Enquiry.

This is the rule I am using on the Client Form that I am using to filter the record for the Reference.
FIND Charter WHERE Charter.fk_myCharterBase=LoggedInRegularUser.myDefaultBase AND Charter.fk_myRequest.fk_Client=Client

Are trying to only show a subset of this client's Charter History?

Unless you are trying to show a subset, no filter should need to be applied if the Charter records were inserted properly in the client.

Yes I want to show a subset of the Client Charter.

First I Create and Enquiry > I then Convert the Enquiry to a Charter by using the Enquiry Data to Create the Charter. my Reference is with Enquiry and Charter and Enquiry is reference to Client.

1) If you remove the filter from the client's Charter History, how many instances will show on the Charter History tab of Leopold Durrant?

2) Are there any READ PROTECT or Access Level restrictions that could be causing instances not to show?

3) Have you tried eliminating either part of your WHERE clause to determine the results?

this is how I create the Record for Charter

ENTER NEW Charter WITH Charter.fk_myRequest=ThisEnquiry,Charter.StartTime=Enquiry.StartTime,Charter.EndTime=Enquiry.EndTime

fk_myRequest is reference to the Client.

When I remove the filter it does not show any data.
I have a query that run using a process using this FIND

FIND Charter WHERE Charter.fk_myCharterBase=LoggedInRegularUser.myDefaultBase AND Charter.fk_myRequest.fk_Client=Client

This work if I am looking a a List of Client and I click on this process it will display the correct info.

So, your problem is not with the filter. The filter only shows subsets of references that already are members of a BO's reference attribute.

You will need to find a way to insert the Charter in a given Client instance upon it's creation.

sorry, I confused my option 1 and 2 in my previous reply.

I don't understand where the rule comes: in to get to this view I don't need any rule I just need to Query by client and show form which includes table of items for related attribute in charters.

what am i missing?
