Processes Where Used

My application is growing and its getting harder to keep track of where processes are called from. I can't find anyway to search for where a process is called from as it can be from within a query or a BO form or a menu. I would like a search like rules. Or does anyone have a tip of how to manage a large number of processes? Naming convention or similar?

Hi Rod,
You know you can have the option "Find references to..." (right click the Process in the config tool tree)?
But indeed having al lot of processes doesn't make the development process easier...
If we need some harder business logic, we often use native DB Stored Procedures (MySQL).
(easier development/testing/logging, faster execution times, ...)

In addition to Benny's tip, naming conventions certainly certain help.

I often use BO name as the first part of the process name so they all appear grouped in the tree together. I also use _ in between words in a process name for readability.

Thanks guys, I'll use both. An idea for the future would be a Where Used report added to the documentation facility for BOs, queries, processes and reports.

Support. Just playing with Find References To and really all that's required I believe is:

Always have the OF statement appended to find results.
Example 1 - Processes in an Auto refresh of a form on a BO needs an OF BOName at the end of it.
Example 2 - Processes called from within another process just has the rule name. It also needs an OF Processname at the end of it.
Allow Find References TO to be run at the BO, Query , Process etc level so you would need to group the results by each BO, Query etc of course.
And maybe allow the results to be output to csv as then other tools can be used to sort, inspect and print the results.

I thought a while ago that the process ( and query ) trees would benefit from a folder ( directory) structure so that like minded items could be grouped together. In the grand scheme of things there were other - more pressing items to push for ( like SUMming duration attributes in the groups and on charts :idea: ) so I didn't bother pushing the idea - but my app is growing also......
