Exploring the power of charts- having looked at the example in the CRM, I now want to go back and retrospectively create Statistic BO's back to April 2010

So I want to start in April 2010 create the stats record, step forward a month, create the stats record etc etc up to the current month.

Just struggling a bit with this one. (would be easy with a for..next loop or a repeat while)

A couple of ways to do it:

1) Manually set up the Month BO instances & have a rule that takes over with filling the Month total amounts.

2) Alternatively, instead of manual Month instance creation, you could make a separate rule that looks at the month info in the detail instances & creates a needed Month if it does not exist yet.

Hi Tom, long time no speak.

Just wondered ... can a process call itself as in

ProcessA

create a NPBO to hold the month
create the stats record
find the stats record for the next month
if the stats record doesn't exist then processA else report error (fall out of the process)

Not sure. My gut feeling is that it would be easier to have 2 processes .. 1 to CREATE the month instances & another to keep the values up to date with the most current info.

CREATE FOR EACH MONTH BETWEEN Start date and end date should do it

This is a quick cheat question since Christmas is coming and I'm running out of time. Looking for the wisdom of support.

2. CREATE Id() FOR EACH (DAY | WEEK | MONTH | QUARTER | YEAR) BETWEEN ArithmeticOperation() AND ArithmeticOperation
This action will create as many instances of the specified business object as there are days(weeks/months/quarters/years) in the specified date interval. Note that the Arithmetic Operations here must be operations on dates, for example,
CREATE Transaction FOR EACH DAY BETWEEN Account.OpeningDate AND
Account.ClosingDate
The date interval includes both starting and ending dates. Note also that if the object being created has any attributes of the Date type, these attributes can be initialized with the value of the date for which the object is being created. For example,
CREATE Transaction FOR EACH DAY BETWEEN Account.OpeningDate AND
Account.ClosingDate WITH Transaction.AppliedDate=Day

I'm assuming from the above that Day will hold the full date of the iteration. Does Month also hold a full date? Would the following code work

CREATE STATISTIC RECORD FOR EACH MONTH BETWEEN X AND Y WITH STATISTICSRECORD.SMONTH=MONTH(Month), STATISTICS RECORD.SYEAR=YEAR(Month)
