sub-report witn multi-level ask later?

Hi, I have a report sort of complex report, seem to be having some issues so before I go too far trouble shooting I thought I would see if this can be done

I have a report with 3 data bands.

Parent Report Object = User
Child Sub-report child Object = Goals
Grand-Child Sub-report Object = Metrics

Ideally I would have the user input the desired User and date range at the start, something like...

Parent Query: Where User.Name = Ask at run-time
Child Query: Where Goals.Owner = ThisUser and Goal.StartDate=Ask at Run-time AND Goals.EndDate=Ask at Run-time
Grand-Child Query = Where ParentID = ThisGoals

This should give me a report, of the some info from the User BO, all the users goals for the specified date range, and their metrics for the specified goals.

Is that possible?

Create a non persistent BO with a form to accept the input, then use the input to that to complete the queries.

ENTER NEW [NPBO]

Parent Query: Where User.Name = NPBO.Attribute1
Child Query: Where Goals.Owner = NPBO.Attribute2 and Goal.StartDate = NPBO.Attribute3 AND Goals.EndDate=NPBO.Attribute4
Grand-Child Query = Where ParentID = NPBO.Attribute5

If you are putting the queries in separate processes, don't forget to put the NPBO in the right hand list to persist the context between the processes

thinking this through a little more and I believe a key ingredient is missing or I misunderstand something. Some of the perimeters are derived form the previous query not entered by a user; So in my example ThisUser and ThisGoal represent the results of the previous queries as the parents of the children I want to now return.

I think though it's as simple as knowing these two questions.

do sub-reports support more than 2 data bands?
do sub-reports support Ask at run time?

I'll create a simple example and test it out, but if these are known limitations it would save me some time, thanks.

I got what I needed, this stuff was very helpful for another issue I had on the back burner so thanks to you both!

I still would like have the 'ask-at-runt-time' values a user enters be respected, or confirmation that it is the desired design that this not work, but good enough for now.
