create business objects from existing database

Hi all,

We have an existing desktop application that we want to rebuild using Aware IM, but it has a large number of tables with many fields.

Apart from manually creating each BO by typing in the attributes for each BO is there a simple way to create business objects from existing database table structures?

i.e. export the field structure of each table to a text file and import the structure into AwareIM

Aware IM can connect to an existing database table and create the structure automatically. Please read the corresponding section in the User Guide for details

I re-read the following sections of the user guide:

- Working with Data Stored in Existing Database Tables or LDAP
- Defining Business Objects that Use Existing Database Tables

Steps I used to copy the table structure were:

1. Create a new business object
2. Change the Persistence to "existing external" from "Aware IM automatic"
3. Add the connection to the external data source
4. Discover the attributes
5. Changed Persistence back to Aware IM automatic
6. Save

NB: This copies the structure not the data, that can be imported later.
