Suggestion with New AwareIM Server

We have been happily using the Apps we developed early this year using AwareIM 5.0 (build 1412).

However, we have it installed on a quite old Windows Server 2000 (crazy right) running MicrosoftSQL 2005 with just 1GB of RAM. So now before I upgrade to the latest build of AwareIM, I am planning on getting a new server for it. I just ordered a Dell PE with Windows 2008 R2 Standard and 8GB of RAM. Would it be better if I virtualize it using Hyper-V or not. If I do virtualize it, should I use Windows 2003 Server R2 instead or just stick with Windows 2008 R2?

Any thoughts and suggestions based on your install experience will be appreciated.

I think any of these options will work, but unless you plan to use the server for other things, why visualize? And either way why go with a near decade old OS?

thanks NLARSON for the reply. honestly when we purchased and started testing AwareIM, we were not sure how good the system is and what kind of apps we can develop with it. that's why I just installed it on the next available server I have that did not have that many loads yet (hence it ended up in an aging win2000 server).

but now that we have an App that we really utilize and have plans of expanding/developing more similar Apps, I really need to put my AwareIM on a more powerful server.

I am thinking of virtualizing just to maximize the hardware resources. I mean its a quad processor with 8GB of RAM. Just not sure if theres going to be issues virtualizing the AwareIM system.
