Rule: FIND and SET?

hi,

i am trying to do the following and needed to help to understand what is the best solution.

we have a BO (customers) with an attribute = company_name
we have another BO (offices) with an attribute = company_name

Our process should

a) find a match based on 'company_name'
b) and copy 2 attributes data to the other BO

Example:

we have customers.company_name = FORD MOTOR CO.
we have offices.company_name = FORD MOTOR CO.

and we want to move the data of the attributes in Customers to Office by FINDING a Match and then SET the data attributes

Like a copy of the attribute data from one BO to another

so we found some posts from 2006 which explain it as

rule statement

create a query from where the data should be matched, returning the attributes in question

rule 1: FIND <Queryname> WHERE <BONAME.Attribute> = ?

our issue is we need to match BO1.attribute1 with BO2.attribute1
then copy some data from BO2 to BO1

Assuming offices BO is already in context:

FIND customers WHERE customers.company_name=offices.company_name TAKE BEST 1

offices.attribute1=customers.attribute1
offices.attribute2=customers.attribute2

your idea worked great.

the next step - we will attempt to make this a Scheduled Process and see if we can have this simply run overnight when everyone is sleeping 🙂

That should be pretty simple to do.

I think you can add:
FIND offices IN BATCHES OF 1 in front of it.

You could also:

Process 1 (called by scheduler):
FIND offices IN BATCHES OF 1
Process2

Process2:
the steps outlined in previous post.

were also trying to use a "query" now as in

FIND 'Query_Name' PICK BEST 1

(because the query already defines the exact returned required) but seem to be challenged in the syntax.. once we find a solution were going to write a small doc on In Context (Find,Sort,Match) bsv for examples
