Reference attribute in Rule

I have two BO's - CallRecord and CallNote. I have a relationship set up which has from CallRecord:- MultipleAllowed, OwnerOf and existing attribute (CAllRecord) in CallNote.

This works for me adding call notes to call record through the form interfaces.

I have set up a rule based on saving a call record where the value of an attribute (status) changes to Closed. It is to create a call note with certain values populated. I have another rule based on another value in the same attribute.

My problem is- it does create the call note but not for the call record. It is effectively orphaned. Is there a problem with the relationship ?

Rule action:
CREATE CallNote WITH CallNote.CallID=CallRecord.CallID,CallNote.DateEntered=CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,CallNote.EnteredBy=LoggedInSystemUser,CallNote.NoteDetail='Call Closed',CallNote.NoteType='Call Closed'

Sorry, in addition, where I have requested in the action that the logged in user gets populated to the CallNote.EnteredBy and in my other rule the CallNote.NoteDetail=CallRecord.CloseDesc, these values do not copy over.

There is no problem with the relationship. The problem is that the rule does not associate the two objects correctly.

Aware IM handles IDs of related objects automatically. You do not need to save the ID of CallRecord with CollNote. Instead, you should use the object name to associate the two objects:

CREATE CallNote WITH CallNote.CallRecord = CallRecord, CallNote.DateEntered = CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, CallNote.EnteredBy = LoggedInSystemUser, CallNote.NoteDetail = 'Call Closed', CallNote.NoteType = 'Call Closed'

You can still keep the ID of related object but the system will not make any use of it.

I am not sure I understand the other question:
a) Are you saying that "CallNote.EnteredBy = LoggedInSystemUser" in the above rule does not work? What is the type of attribute EnteredBy?
b) "CallNote.NoteDetail = CallRecord.CloseDesc" probably does not work because the above rule makes a different assignment: "CallNote.NoteDetail = 'Call Closed'"

Are you saying that "CallNote.NoteDetail = CallRecord.Solution" does not work? This may be because the attribute types are not compatible or (if both of the attributes are of type Text) because the length of CallNote.NoteDetail is smaller than the length of CallRecord.Solution.

A slight addition: is it possible to make attributes read only based on a value within one attribute ?

i.e., if Status = Closed, then 'x' attributes will be read only. The Status attribute could be changed, thereby allowing the other attributes to be read/write again ?

Yes, this can be done using action PROTECT. For example, you could add a rule like the following one to object CallRecord:

If CallRecord.Status = 'Closed' Then PROTECT CallRecord.Solution FROM ALL
