Why cant add new appointments

Hi!

I have a rule in Appointment BO:

If EXISTS Appointment WHERE (Appointment.Stage1 IS DEFINED AND Appointment.EndTime IS DEFINED AND Appointment.Stage IS DEFINED) Then PROTECT Appointment FROM ALL EXCEPT System

So with the rule above now I cannot add new appointment instance in Information BO that is owner of Appointment BO. Why? Is the IS DEFINED expression is not valid for Appointment type BOs? I think It shouldnt be so.

Tried to switch off inline row editor result is the same when enter new appointment its fields are blanc and already protected.

Not sure what condition you are trying to test for in your rule. EXIST looks across all instances of the BO to see if ONE exists which meet your criteria.

It looks like your PROTECT rule might be applied because there is ONE instance that meets your criteria ???

Oh, yes you are right! Thanks!
I just wanted to protect the Appointment instance that was added to Information BO and has its attributes defined.
Will play with rule.

You may want to look at the rule that is automatically added to each RegularUser BO when making a new BSV. It has an example of how to limit the scope of a rule to the current instance.

The only rule in RegularUser I could find is

If EXISTS SystemUser WHERE (SystemUser.LoginName=ThisRegularUser.LoginName AND SystemUser.ID<>ThisRegularUser.ID) Then
REPORT ERROR 'User with this login name already exists. Please choose a different name'

And the rule worked for my case by now is:

If NOT(Appointment IS NEW ) AND Appointment.Stage1 IS DEFINED Then PROTECT ThisAppointment.Stage1 FROM ALL EXCEPT System
