Logic problem summing referenced attributes

I'm trying to build a product assembly system for a compant (my first paid gig)

I have a product file with a referenced attribute called sub_asembleis

The sub assemblies can also have sub assemblies or operations linked to the same sub_assembly referenced attribute

So:

Product1 Sub Assembly1
Sub Assembly 2 sub assembly 3
Manufacturing operation 1
Manufacturing operation 2

Or to put some bones on it

Door 1 Prepare door for lock
Lock Assembly The Actual Lock
Fit lock to door
Hinge Assembly The actual hinge
Fit Hinge to lock

Each piece of hardware/manufacturing process has an associated cost and I'm now trying to ripple through the referenced items to arrive at a manufacturing cost for the door.

I thought this would work as a rule in the products file but it doesn't - it just makes all the costs 00

Products.MfrCost=SUM Products.MfrCost WHERE (Products IN Products.SubUnits)

Any help appreciated

Hi,
I'm not sure what your sub assembly BO is called or the cost attribute within it but you need to do something like:

Products.MfrCost=SUM SubUnits.MfrCost WHERE (SubUnits IN Products.SubUnits)

The final code ended up as:

IF COUNT Products Where (Products IN ThisProducts.SubUnits) >0 THEN ThisProducts.Price=SUM Products.Price WHERE (Products IN ThisProducts.SubUnits)

I didn't make clear in the original post that I was using a single BO and the sub units were actually records in the same BO

The "If" statement was needed so that the rule didn't fire if the record was at the end of a chain. What was happening before was the price entered was immediately being reset to zero - which then rippled back up the chain to the master product record.
