Google Map Interface

Has anyone, using an intelligent object similar to the PayPal interface been able to pass an address to google/mapquest/yahoo maps and get a map url returned?

If there is a known process can you share it?

Thanks for the help

Have not done that, but there is a thread on Google Maps at

I have used the GoogleMap key in AwareIM in my business space. We create customer orders (building materials) and schedule them for delivery. I pull the delivery address of the order and show it as GoogleMap.

This works nice but the next step that I would like to do, which I was told will be available in the future version, is to use the GPS location tracking of the mobile device and get the coordinates (long/lat) and pass it into an object attribute of my business so I can map it.

Sorry for the late reply. The problem was locating where to generate the key on the google site. I finally had to resort to a google search on "obtain google map key" and found it.

Works nicely and does what is expected of it.

For future reference, you can obtain a Google Map API key at:

Is it possible to create a BO that uses the google map API to calculate drive mileage and time from directions between 2 addresses?

aware_support

We have a plug-in somewhere that does it. It costs $100

Sweet! Is there a way I can test this addon? I guess basically I need it to be able to pull the addresses from my Appoinment BO (I created a new attribute called address) for a given staffmember and calculate a weekly total for mileage and drive time.

Also, I would like to be able to show a map of a staffmembers appointments for a day/week so that I can make sure they are not driving too far between appointments. Can I do that with the addon or is it something that AwareIm should be able to do out of the box?

Do you have a list of available addons that you guys have created? I would love to see some descriptions so that I can see what pre-built stuff is available for my app.

Thanks!

You cannot test it but rest assured that it works. It is implemented as a function called DISTANCE that takes two addresses as input and returns the distance that it calculates using Google Maps.

Staff member appointments can be shown using the standard Calendar feature.

Most our add-ons are very specific to the needs of a particular customer they have been written for. There's only a couple of generic plug-ins:

1) Distance using Google Maps
2) Sending SMS using Clickatell provider

Starting with V5.2 . build 1513, Google Maps no longer requires a key. Very slick!

Hi,
I'm quite new in Aware IM. I have used Google maps in a business object and it works fine. I would like to create a form to visualize all the addresses from all the instances of the object. I tried with a query displaying just the address attribute. I added an operation with operation type: View object, and view form: "Main", Section:"Maps" which is the section for Google maps in the main form. It just shows a list of addresses, so I took a wrong way.
I would very much appreciate a bit of advice.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day

You need to create a PRESENTATION for this object and use the GoogleMap element in this presentation. For more details about presentations please refer to the User Guide

I tried the Google maps in a form and it works perfectly for one instance of a BO but I can't make it work in a presentation for more than one instance. I want to show all the addresses from all instances of a BO. I followed the User Guide but I'm missing something.
-I created the presentation in the BO with the BO.address tag in the details section and the Google Map in the Summary
-I created a query that uses the BO. In "Details", I selected the "Display presentation" and then the GoogleMaps presentation.
-When I run the query in the operation mode, no map is shown, only the tags.

I guess I will need a little more help than what the User Guide can give me.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day

I'm running version 5.2

aware_support

We have found a few problems when using Google Maps in presentation. A new build will be available soon with the fix.

roxmer

Thanks!

Problems with Google Maps in presentations should be fixed in build 1515. You have to re-create Google Maps used in your presentations

I'm running 5.2 on Mac. Do I have to update the software?
