Good day every one..

I have this thinking.. I dnt know whether can be done in AwareIM.
I am exploring the Visual Perspectives section.

I have created a Main VP with the
1) Top Menu..
- Top Button: Master, Sales, Purchasing Menu
2) If user click the Sales.. it go to 2nd VP - Only for Sales Processing
- Search Customer (Left) Top Button:Customer Order, Sales Invoice..
3) If user click the Purchasing Menu 3rd VP - Only for Purchasing Processing
- Search Supplier (Left) Top Button:Supplier PO, Vendor Invoice...

It means that it redirect the page to the respectively VP with different design. Can it be done this way?
If yes, how do I redirect the page to difference VP?

Yes, use DISPLAY PERSPECTIVE and DISPLAY LAYOUT

Be warned though, if a user has multiple tabs open and then hit a button to change a vp they will lose all open tabs and any unsaved work on a form.

We avoid this ui now for that very reason, it caused grief for our users even with a few display questions to get confirm.

BUT if we could have two menus (top and left) that would be really powerful! (please support!?!)

the function worked..
u are right rod... the enter new form did not prompt to save as i change to difference vp... i need to think carefully...

then how to design the VP more effectively and easy to maintain:

example: there are 10 link to access the data (enter form, edit form, list, report etc)
manager: access everything
operation 1: only can access 1,4,5
operation 2: only can access 1,2,3,4,5
operation 3: only can access 5,6,7,8

should I just design I VP for all and use the access level to control or i design every user one VP according to the requirement to login. But in the future, if operation 3 want to access no 9, then I need to transfer the updated file again to the server. any way to reduce the work load?

additional of that, my client want a form for the manager to check and uncheck those function to access by their user. How do I do the form and edit the access levels file?

I think there are pros and cons to both and it really depends on how the app will be used. Personally I would go for your second option of "i design every user one VP according to the requirement to login"

So 4 x VPs and 4 x Access Levels.

It is more to update/maintain BUT you can just Copy/Paste menu items from one VP to another so it isn't a lot of work. I also find a lot of hide rules can get confusing to maintain when doing changes.

FYI - I tend to build the "Manager" (access all areas) level and VP first, then I copy it and take things out for the other VPs, it just seems to be faster (for me anyway).

This requirement may determine your approach. You can not edit the access levels file with a form. It must be changed in the BSV.

As Rod said, you could have fewer VPs and use attributes to show/hide certain menu options for certain users.

Based on what you say are your client's requirements, that may be the direction you have to pursue.

The Manager could find the user and click yes/no to show/hide the menus for that user.

Also consider a reference attribute between system settings and reg user, then embed the ref attribute in a System Settings form, make it inline editable, so you have user names for each row and the columns are the Yes/No drop downs. The manager can open this form and see all users access to menu items, and adjust them by clicking on the cell.

Good recommendation. This is what I need. Let the user to determine the access right for each of the user.

I do not know what is the proper step.

I am think to create a BO called AttributeName to enter all the AttributeName according to my application.

User RegularUser to create the User Name.
When the user is created. I BO:AttributeName to RegularUserAttribute (New BO), in the RegularUserAttribute, there is a attribute to determined accessright as "Show/Hide". 1 RegularUser -> many RegualarUserAttribute.

Manager will click "Show/Hide" to determine whether the user can access the BO.

I found the Access Level show all the Business Object, Process, Queries, Document and Services. Any way to link this Access Level automatically when the user being created. Show all the query and manager can click "Show/Hide" for each of the user and update the system too. (I believe need to write a process to update).

I create a "Menu" VP to link to all user. Can use the Main Manu to determine whether the user can access leve?

Sales Order:

Find Order
Create New Order
Find Outstanding Order
View Order
User John: - Access All
User Mary: - Access Find Outstanding All and View Order Only

So the Manager will determined "Show/Hide" for the menu when John and Mary Login to the system.

I am explore the system for the Access Levels and VP. I found that I need to create Access Levels and link to the VP.

I would like to create a Form for Manager interface to Create the Access Levels and AwareIM AccessLevels automatically created. I only have 1 VP which link to all the Access Levels. But how do I create the process to update the AccessLevels in AwareIM?

I have tried to create a New BO:AccessLevels and RegularUser.AccessLevels link as dynamic choice, but it not work at all. the drop down only show Administrator. But if I use AwareIM AccessLevels to create the AccessLevels directly such as Manager, Operation etc.. then the drop down is able to show. But I wish the manager to create their AccessLevels themselves and update the AwareIM System Access Levels Drop Down and at the same time create a New Access Levels in AwareIM System too.

After create the Access Levels, Manager can create the Regular User and selected the Access Levels.

After create the Regular User, Manager can determine which Business Object, Query and Reports for this particular user to access. How do I show a query of all the Business Object and query from the Current Access Levels? Do I need to create a New BO myself and enter one by one? Assume it can be done, when the user select "creator: modify only... full access".. How do I update the AwareIM AccessLevels System?

At the end, manager create a user "john" with the Access Level "Operation" and access restricted VP. Manager can change the restricted access menu anytime he want too according to their company policy.

Access levels can not be changed by users. They can only be changed in the Configuration Tool.

To accomplish your goals of manager control, you will have to do it as Rod suggested: Add attributes to the RegularUser BO and then use those attributes in show/hide capabilities in various places.

In my RegularUser, I have created a Reference AccessMenu, Now it is able to show as Manager is able to setup for each user.

User Name: user1

Password: password

Access Menu......................Show............................
Find Cusotmer.....................Yes.....................Change

Add New Customer...............No.......................Change

In the VP User, the wording exactly the same.

I believed when the user1 login, I need to run a process the show the menu and hide those menu according the the Access Menu

Process:
FIND AccessGroup WHERE AccessGroup.RegularUser=LoggedInRegularUser.ID

If AccessGroup.Menu.Name='Add New Customer' AND AccessGroup.Access='No'
Then
[Hide the VP User Menu – Add New Customer] - How to do this?
Else
[Show the VP User Menu – Add New Customer] - How to do this?

I have create a VP User Menu.
Left Menu:

Find Customer
Add New Customer

I have put the above process as "Run Initialisation process"....

please help... near to the goal....

You are not really doing what the quoted paragraph says to do.

I suggest you do a try a very simple example of this concept first to make sure you understand the concept and know how to implement it before you try to develop the entire solution.

Here are the steps:
1) Add a new Yes/No attribute to RegularUser: Show_FindCustomer

2) In User VP, find the Find Customer menu option & put the following in the "Condition when invisible" box:

LoggedInRegularUser.Show_FindCustomer='No'

At this point, do not do anything with Rod's suggestion to add a reference attribute. Seems like you are getting confused on this part.

Simply make a query of all RegularUsers for the manager & give then the ability to edit the Show_FindCustomer attribute for RegularUser instances.

After this one simple example works, than add additional RegularUser attributes to control additional menu options.

it worked according to your recommendation.

Now I have many menu...
1 user -> access many menu which certain menu should be visible and no visible.

so I create a AccessMenu BO to control for each of the RegularUser.

AccessMenu......................Allowed..............Regular User(ID)

Find Customer...................No......................11
Add New Customer.............Yes.....................11
Find Customer...................Yes.....................12
Add New Customer.............No.......................12

In this case.. how do I write the Condition when invisible....
LoggedInRegularUser.AccessMenu.Name='Find Customer'AND LoggedInRegularUser.Allowed = 'No'

But did not work.....

I think this is at least the 3rd time .. do NOT create another BO. Make new RegularUser Yes/No attributes for each menu option that you want to control. If there are 5 menus to control, that will mean 5 new RegularUser attributes.
