Help with usage of regular expression constructs.

Hi,

I am currently trialing AwareIM Version 5.1 (Build 1425).

I am having a problem with adding quotation marks to a string which will be used for exporting XML. I've read the User Guide, but not found much on the subject, except for the regular expressions constructs reference in the back of the guide.

I have this rule:

XML_NS3459_Main.NS3459=AS_STRING(Tender_Main.NSVersion+' Versjon='+\Q+Tender_Main.Version+\E+' xsi:schemaLocation='+\Q+Tender_Main.XSI+\E+'')

But it gives me an error which I do not understand:

Lexical error at line 1, column 68. Encountered: "\" (92), after : ""

So I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong and how you're meant to use the regular expression constructs.

This is how I expect the exported XML to look like:

<NS3459 Versjon="3.0" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.standard.no/ns3459/ns3459.xsd">
...
</NS3459>

You can use apostrophe inside the quotation marks or the quotation marks inside apostrophe. Your string should look like this:

XML_NS3459_Main.NS3459='<NS3459 Versjon="3.0" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.standard.no/ns3459/ns3459.xsd">'

or like this:
XML_NS3459_Main.NS3459="<NS3459 Versjon='3.0' xsi:schemaLocation='http://www.standard.no/ns3459/ns3459.xsd'>"

I tried this the first time I tried as it complies with how it's done in PHP. But I'm getting an error.

Gives the same error:

Please use apostrophe symbol ' instead of " in strings.
If the string contains apostrophe use ` symbol located underneath ~ instead of the apostrophe.

Sorry, please use the "`" symbol instead of apostrophe and apostrophe instead of the quotation marks:

XML_NS3459_Main.NS3459=<NS3459 Versjon='3.0' xsi:schemaLocation='http://www.standard.no/ns3459/ns3459.xsd'>

Is kind of working, but I need the ' to become " - but when I use " I get the error message that tells me to use ' instead... How do I get it to use "?

When having a challenge with a particular character, you can store that in an attribute like SystemSettings.Quote than use the attribute in your formula.

DO NOT USE quotation marks inside your string - use the "" symbol instead. So your string should start and finish with regular apostrophe and then use instead of quotation marks:

MyString = 'blah blah attribute=value blah blah another_attribute=value blah '
