Newbie: How to keep Tabs displayed?

Hi Folks

I have a menu tool bar button that opens a Create Object form for a number of objects (user selects from this menu drop down). I also have a number of tabs where a query is shown in table format for each business object.

All looks well until I use the menu selection to create a new object, or when I use edit in the query display table. When the new object form is shown the tabs disappear, and I cant get them back.

I've obviously missed a point in configuring these tabs.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I usually use a process to either ENTER NEW or EDIT a BO instance. The process is then either called by a menu item or Query operation.

The form will then appear as a modal pop-up form and all underlying Visual Perspective panels will remain in place. In some cases, you may have to include the process name in Autorefresh of the Query to have the new instance reflected in a Query.

If you do want to create an object in a new tab, please define "New Tab" as an output of a menu operation (you will find this option when you configure a menu action in a visual perspective editor)

The addition of the New Tab action works exactly as I'd hoped for.

One other thing I need to do on these forms is to place an 'Add' button to my main forms - so I can edit an object, but I want to add a new one.

Currently I use a menu to add any of the new objects I need but it makes more sense to have an 'Add Ne' button on the details form. The form configurator however does not have an action for 'Create Object' in the list.

I suspect there is a simple way to do this that I'm missing again?

BTW the system is proving to be very easy to build basic applications, once I have my head around the strange techniques used in the configurator. But over all its looking like a refreshing way to prototype applications very quickly.

We are going to take a look at the mobile use of the applications too in the next week or so.

You have to create a Process with ENTER NEW, then use the Start Process operation.

I create a process for most BOs with an ADD action, then show start that Process from a Query Operation. With this operation shown at the bottom or top of the Query, a user can search for and Add, Edit or Delete instances of that BO right from the query. It's very intuitive.

Tom, just out of curiosity what is the advantage of using a process to ADD rather than the out of the box method?

I have Add as a menu option using Create Object with the Output in a New Tab. It seems pretty simple and does not require a process so I was just wondering if I was missing some possible benefits down the road.

No advantage to a menu option w/ New Tab option. I got in the habit of creating a process before the New Tab option was available. I also like the UI of having a link on the bottom of a query to add a new instance. In the case of a Query operation, NEW TAB is not currently an option.
