Appointment does not show in Calendar Monthly View

I created an Appointment object that I can view as Calendar. It works great but it is just weird that there are appointment object that will not show up in the Calendar monthly but it shows on weekly.

I thought that for some reason the records are getting deleted but they are not. All appointment records shows when I query them as a report (not calendar). I even went as far as the database tables to make sure all records are there, and they are. But for some reason some of them would disappear from the monthly calendar view.

Any thoughts or ideas why it is doing this? Is there an attribute in the Appointment object I need to make sure is set properly? By the way I had them color coded by an attribute type.

The only reason is if your calendar query is setup in such a way that it filters certain appointments out

Nope, I don't have any filter by query is 'FIND ALL Appointment'. Everything shows up if the query result is displayed as standard report format but a few of them doe snot show up when the result is viewed as Calendar. Pretty weird. For now I just have 2 versions my users can display , the calendar and standard format as the backup.

I would update your BSV on your server just to make 100% sure. Every now and then someone posts a strange situation only to find out that the BSV they thought was running on their server is not the right one.

Are there any common factors in the instances not showing up?

I am pretty sure my query is for all Appointment, so there is no filtering there whatsoever.

However, each Appointment is linked to an Order object which I set up as a required object. Remember this is a delivery appointment so we basically schedule Orders for delivery. And then on the Order object, I have a status of 'Open' or 'Close'. I protect the Order (from everybody except System) when the status is changed to 'Close'.

I just checked and it seem all those scheduled Order not showing up are linked to 'Closed' orders. I wonder if that is the reason it wont display it in Calendar Monthly view. Its weird though that is shows in standard report and even in Weekly view.

I am going to do some more tests.

Well after a few more hours of testing I found out it was one of the appointment record somehow messing up the whole calendar. I thought it had something to do the the Orders status object linked to the Appointment but that was not the case.

I ended up deleting records from the oldest to the newest and after just 5th record, the rest of them showed up on the monthly calendar view.

Just weird, but everything seem to be back to normal.

When the new calendar was released I could never get it to present all appointments as it should. I eventually gave up and stayed with the old calendar.

That's until I discovered the error console feature in Firefox. When I viewed the error console after loading the calendar there was a clear error of "badly formed data" This pointed me to the cause of the problem - a specific name of a company that had an "&" in the name

Once I had advised support of the problem they rectified it in the next release

So if you get something strange happening where data doesn't appear in a grid or calendar its advisable to check the error console in FF. You might just find the culprit and save yourself a lot of time - Then advise support of the source of the problem so they can fix it. This way we can all benefit from potential re occurrences of the problem

Just thought I'd flag this up - but as I've not updated to V5 yet it might be no longer an issue - but it's been around since early 4.9.

If I have a week long event that runs over a month end - it doesn't show in monthly view but does in weekly view

An update on this, we found out it was any schedule-appointment record that has the character "&" causing the whole thing not to show up in monthly calendar view. We are back to normal again and told everyone not to use "&" when making schedules.
